Suzuki released the first images and details of the third gen Swift, which will go on sale in UK this Autumn. Subaru’s reasonably priced car for 2011 comes with refined styling inside and out. Even though the changes are not significant, they give the Swift a bolder and yet sleeker presence. It’s nice!
The car looks bigger because it is bigger than the old model. And not just slightly, in fact the new Swift in 90mm longer than before and also offers 50mm longer wheelbase. Here’s a comparison between the dimensions of the old and the new one:
|1,480mm (16-inch wheels)
|1,485mm (16 inch wheels)
At launch the 2011 Suzuki Swift will be available with a 1.2 liter petrol engine incorporating Dual VVT (Variable intake and exhaust valve timing), developing 94 PS at 6,000 rpm and 118 Nm at 4,800 rpm. It returns 56.5 mpg with the manual transmission and emits 116g/km of CO2.
In 2011 a 1.3 liter diesel unit will be added to range which delivers 67.3 mpg and 109 g.km CO2. Suzuki has not announced any power figure for this one yet.
