Ferrari CEO Luca di Montezemolo has been talking to Autocar recently as he confirms they are going to unveil a roadster version of the great 599 GTB at the Pebble Beach concourse in California. The details are scarce, but it will be extremely rare, and will get its own personal name instead of Fiorano.
According to Don Luca, this car will not be produced as a normal model such as the 599 itself, and it won’t be showcased in any auto show as well. To create a sense of exclusivity, prospective customers will get a private presentation of the car at Ferrari’s HQ in Maranello, and each model will be bespoke to the owner.
The kind of roof Ferrari is going to put on the 599 roadster is also unknown at the time. It might get a classic soft-top or a rotating hard-top like the one on the 575 SuperAmerica. But it’s very unlikely that Ferrari gives it a California-style retractable roof.
