As the first test mules for 2013/14 Chevrolet Corvette are being scooped out in the wild, new details emerges on what can we expect from it.

This is for sure now, the next Corvette will be substantially different than all of its predecessors. Yes, it will probably bring back the split rear window, but underneath the authentic body it will be engineered like a European sportscar. General Motors is apparently targeting Porsche 911 customers with the next ‘Vette.

Some high-ranking officials from Detroit have confirmed it that next-gen Corvette will let go of big displacement engines for a smaller, more efficient V8 boosted with turbochargers. Given the drastic changes that are planned for the car it is also likely that it features a mid-engine layout. If you like some figures, officials say the new high-revving V8 will make over 400 PS in standard C7. The next ZO7 and ZR1 will definitely get more.

GM might also offer big-block V8s as option for loyal American customers, as they will probably won’t be happy with this change of personality.
