The 5-door hatchback variant of the Chevrolet Cruze will hit hit the British market in July starting at £13,995.

That’s the price of the entry-level LS model, equipped with a 1.6 litre engine developing 124PS. The standard features on this model include Air conditioning, remote locking, electric-front windows, follow-me-home headlights, electrically-adjustable heated door mirrors and a quality radio/CD player with auxiliary input. So it’s far from a basic car that you would expect to get for that price.

What makes it more interesting is the fact that the Cruze now comes with a five-year warranty, same thing that made Korean cars so popular. All models also Electronic Stability Control as standard, along with a host of safety features comparable to the five-star Euro NCAP rated Cruze saloon.

Other engine available for the hatch include a 141PS 1.8-litre petrol engine with five-speed manual or auto transmission, and the 163PS 2.0 VCDi with a choice of either six-speed manual or six-speed auto gearboxes. These are for the higher spec LT and LTZ trims.

Starting at £16,095, the LTZ trim offers exceptional  levels of standard kit, including Bluetooth, a USB port, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights, an electro-chromatic rear view mirror, 17-inch alloys and aluminium-effect trim on the instrument panel. Top of the range is the LTZ with Executive Pack, which gets leather trim as standard, along with satellite navigation and heated front seats. Available only as a diesel, prices start at £19,295.”
