Setting a record of 48.07 seconds to cover 1.6 mile up the Goodwood hill, this old Toyota Celica is officially the fastest car at the event, even faster than Formula1 cars!
Driven and built by former British Rally Champion, Jonny Milner, this 800bhp beast weighs only 1,050kg and is purpose-built to take on the technical and challenging Goodwod hill. The engine that powers the car is from a Corolla world rally car, boosted by a Rotrex supercharger and nitrous oxide injection system.
For better weight distribution, the driver’s position has moved back 12 inches, and the car’s centre of gravity has been lowered by raising the wheel arches and upper suspension mounts. A flat floor and rear diffuser add a degree of ground effect. Super soft rallycross specification Michelin slick tyres also played an important role in getting all that horsepower to the ground.
