Bentley Continental at Bentley SUV Confirmed by CEO

In a recent interview with German magazine Auto Motor und Sport, Bentley CEO Wolfgang Duerheimer confirmed his company is planning a SUV.

Rumors about the Bentley SUV has been flying around since the birth of the Continental really. But only now we have the word of an official on it. This car will be a posh, luxury Sport Uility to compete with Range Rover Vogue and Porsche Cayenne.

Although there will be similarities between the two, but the SUV is not likely to be just a jacked up Continental. It will almost certainly be built upon Porsche Cayenne’s platform. Both company are part of Volkswagen Group. Of course they make sure the Bentley SUV won’t mess with Cayenne’s market by putting a much fatter price tag on it!

The price tag then will be justified with lots of high-end luxury, and Bentley’s craftsmanship. And that really is what sets this car apart from the Cayenne.

Bentley is refusing to set a date for the arrival of the new SUV, but sources say it won’t be sooner than 2013.
