Porsche is reportedly working on a brand-new supercar to broaden its lineup further and fill the gap between the 911 GT2 RS and the 918 hypercar.
Porsche officials have confirmed they are eying some initial ideas that look promising on paper to fill this ‘hole in the product range’. Given Porsche’s previous gap-filler Cayman, you can already guess the new super car’s specs. It’ll be more dramatic and more powerful than the GT2 RS, but nothing too fancy to mess with the 918’s territory. What we can’t be sure of is how the new car will look like. Will it be derived from the 911, or will it get a whole new design?
Price-wise, it must be something between the RS’s $340K and 918’s $770K, so half a million dollar sounds reasonable!
This supercar is not the only new product in Porsche’s growth program. According to Bernhard Maier, Porsche’s sales chief, there will be additional variants of the Cayman and Boxster as well as extended-wheelbase and convertible versions of the Panamera.
