Following a number of annoying teasers, Infiniti finally took the wraps off the new JX seven-seat crossover.
OK, before we get to the car itself, here’s the 7th teaser if you have been following them:
And here’s the car itself, i its full glory. They might have revealed a bit early though, because it won’t go on sale until Spring 2012!
The car looks to us like a mixture of QX and FX models. But that unique C-pillar, inspired by the Etheria concept car, and new front grille inspired by the Essence concept – which will be featured in all new Infinitis- give it an identity of its own.
The car’s main strength points however, are interior flexibility and roominess, safety, and innovative hospitality features. The car is a three-row seven-seat luxury crossover. The 2nd row seats tilt and slide forward providing exceptionally easy 3rd row access. Infiniti says there is adult-sized room for all occupants.
In terms of technicalities, the 2013 JX features a V6 engine and all-wheel or front-wheel drive, as well as a CVT gearbox. This setup reminds us of Nissan Murano’s, and that’s alright because that car has one of the best rides and handling in this segment. It is the best compromise between comfort and sportiness in a crossover vehicle.
Sadly, there won’t be a V8 option available.
The Infiniti JX continues Infiniti’s tradition of developing world’s first technologies, offering the currently available Blind Spot Intervention and adding a new feature, Backup Collision Intervention. With this technology, when the transmission is in reverse, the JX will help the driver detect crossing objects behind the vehicle and, if necessary, the system will automatically engage the brakes to help avoid a collision.
It also features great connectivity and entertainment features for all passengers, with items like a 14-speaker Bose Studio Surround sound system with Waveguide bass technology and an advanced Infiniti Connection Telematics system that can automatically synch the owner’s calendar and provide navigation guidance to appointments.
This car also comes with Infiniti Personal Assistant, Infiniti’s new personal concierge service with 24-hour access to a live team of professional assistants.
Infiniti will be hosting a live chat tomorrow, August 20th @ 1 pm EDT, directly from Pebble Beach with Shiro Nakamura, Cheif Creative Officer and Ben Poore, VP Americas. Log in for more details about the JX and other news from Infiniti: http://www.livestream.com/infiniti
