Subaru’s version of the FT-86 rear-wheel-drive sportscar, developed jointly with Toyota, is going to be called the BRZ.
BRZ stands for “Boxer engine”, “Rear-wheel drive” and “Zenith” which sums up everything about the car really. This highly efficient sports coupe will also be built by Scion in America, as Scion FR-S. Toyota is yet to name its own version, but the word is they will call it the new Celica.
A concept version of the Subaru BRZ, previewing the produciton car, will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show under the name of “SUBARU BRZ PROLOGUE – BOXER Sports Car Architecture II .” No word on technical specifications yet.
