Subaru BRZ Will Be Meatier Than Toyota FT-86

Subaru BRZ Prologue at Subaru BRZ Will Be Meatier Than Toyota FT 86

New details emerged on Subaru BRZ, suggesting it will be more powerful and sportier than its Toyota brother.

The BRZ, as you may know, is Subaru’s version of FT Sportscar project they are co-developing with Toyota. The idea is Toyota design the body and interior, while Subaru contributes the engine and underpinnings.

We already know the FT-86 will have 200-bhp, which is pathetic frankly. Now according to Autocar report, the BRZ will have more power. They say it’s “less than 300 hp” and that makes it hard to guess. It could be 201, it could be 299! but it definitely isn’t 300.

What’s more, the BRZ will be more of a sports car than the FT-86, with its low-slung boxer engine and rear-wheel-drive configuration that lets that engine be mounted lower in the chassis. The BRZ will have the lowest center of gravity than any other production car when it arrives.

That in plain English means it’ll be chuckable and very fun to drive. Visually, it will have different grille and bumpers than the Toyota.
