Toyota confirmed specs of the new Avensis 2.0 D-4D diesel on sale now in the UK priced from £19,445.

This is the version of the car for those worry about their wallet. Because the revised 148bhp Toyota Optimal Drive 2.0-litre D-4D engine has a combined fuel consumption of 61.4mpg and CO2 emissions of just 119g/km. These figures are 15 percent better than the previous model.

Key changes to the new engine include a new turbocharger with lower friction bearings and an electric actuator. The torque characteristics of each gear have also been adjusted and as a result, drivers enjoy greater torque at low speeds. The car also benefits from improvements in engine cooling and lubrication and the use of low rolling resistance tyres.
