That’s new! Chevrolet is recalling 4,873 2012 Sonics because, apparently, they forgot to put one of the front brake pads on.
Usually recalls are for fixing a defective part. They replace it with a proper one, and that’s fair enough, errors are invertible in mass producing such complicated machines. But missing a part, and a vital one like brake pads, that’s astonishing.
How did that happen, honestly, and how did these cars pass the final checks without anybody noticing one of the front brake pads is missing ?! The man responsible for this massive cock-up should be fired immediately.
Fortunately, no incidents or injuries have been connected with this issue. They apparently only noticed it when a customer brought the car in for a service! If you own one of these cars make sure to visit your Chevy dealer from January 14th. They will install a complete new system with two pads, caliper and rotor for you.
