Chevrolet revealed its new Traverse utility vehicle ahead of New York Auto Show with a refined exterior design and a nice and functional interior. Although Chevy calls this a crossover utility vehicle, it’s more like a jacked-up minivan. That is not bad, of course, it’ll be a brilliant family car. It’s just that it could be a bit sportier.
The spacious interior offers comfortable and flexible seating for up to eight adults, and more cargo-carrying capacity than any other vehicle in its segment. Depending on the trim level you get articulating head restraints, eight-way power passenger seat, and the cherry for the top, a 6.5-inch color touch radio with the available Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system.
Even with the third-row seats up, the car offers 24.4 cu. ft. (691 liters) of cargo room.
The new Traverse will come with three interior color choices, in cloth or leather, including Ebony and Mojave, Light Titanium and Dark Titanium, and Ebony. That’s complemented by soft-touch materials, contrasting stitching, chrome and silver accents, and available blue ambient.
The Traverse features a 3.6L V-6 with fuel-saving direct injection technology and continuously variable valve timing, developing 288 horsepower (215 Nm) and 270 lb.-ft. of torque (366 Nm) with dual exhaust (281 hp/210 kW and 266 lb.-ft./361 Nm with single exhaust). FWD is standard, but you ca order an All-Wheel-Drive system.
Traverse being a family car, it comes with a full range of safety features including high-tech stuff like blind spot alert, tire pressure monitoring, and rear-view camera. You just have to get the trim level right, because not all of it is standard.
