For the second consecutive year at the launch of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Jaguar wins the the ‘Most Spirited Getaway’ award as an XJS TWR owned by JD Classics driven by Alex Buncombe puts on the greatest show taking on the Goodwood hill. Last year a Jaguar XFR driven by Touring Car driver Anthony Reid won this very cool award.
The Most Spirited Getaway award is given to the driver who perform the most enthusiastic, crowd-pleasing drive up the hill. The image of the car is also important here, and that’s why the XJS is kinda the perfect car for the job.
Jaguar has always been the car of choice for British villains for their combination of power, speed and handsome looks. By today’s standards you can call them gangasta!
This year’s winning car, a 1984 Jaguar XJS TWR and chassis 005 of just seven produced was previously driven by Win Percy, is powered by a 485bhp, race-specification V12 and features side-exit exhaust system for a spectacular exhaust noise, which is a must in a perfect getaway scenario.
The XJS was joined on the Goodwood Hill by the iconic Silk Cut Jaguar XJR-8/9 run by Don and Justin Law.
