Following a preview in Dubai last year Chevrolet officially unveils the new generation Trailblazer ahead of The 33rd Bangkok International Motor Show in Thailand. Yep, the Thai will get this quintessentially American SUV before the Americans. The new Blazer is nothing like its early versions, all big and ungainly, but still it’s pretty sizable thing.
The car is based on the Colorado pickup truck and has a similar look at front as well, but it’s been designed as a seven-seat full-size SUV for large families. Inside, the all-new Trailblazer features leading interior space and intuitive three-row tumble and fold-flat seating, representing Chevrolet’s most significant play in the competitive body-on-frame midsize SUV segment.
The 2013 Trailblazer comes with two- and four-wheel-drive configurations, and is powered by GM’s new four-cylinder Duramax turbo-diesel engines, including two 2.5L and 2.8L units. The 2.8-liter engine is rated at 180 horsepower (132 kW) and 346 lb.-ft. of torque (470 Nm) with an available six-speed automatic transmission (324 lb.-ft. / 440 Nm with a five-speed manual). The 2.5-liter engine is rated at 150 horsepower (110 kW) and 258 lb.-ft. of torque (350 Nm).
The new Blazer has an interesting interior design with a flowing instrument panel, integrated center stack and signature Chevrolet dual cockpit design. Additional interior details include: Second row 60/40 split seats with single latch forward gravity tumble, fold-flat capability, and six-degree seat-back reclining with integrated folding armrests, incorporated with cup holders; Third row 50/50 split seats with center console storage and fold-flat capability; Flat floor storage from the front row rearward when all seats are folded to provide extreme load capability; and Auxiliary power plug with USB and Bluetooth connectivity.
As for the safety features, it gets Electronic Stability Control, Anti-lock Braking System, Hydraulic Brake Assist, Traction Control, Dynamic Rear Brake Proportioning (first use of Rear Drive Brake in the market), Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Panic Brake Assist, Engine Drag Control, Hill Descent Control and Driver and Occupant Air Bag Protection.
2013 Chevrolet Trailblazer will reach global markets after its initial launch in Thailand. It will be sold in Australia as the Holden Colorado 7 4WD SUV.
