After Nissan, its sister company Renault reveals a China-only sedan at the Beijing Auto Show. Renault’s offering is much more luxurious and is targeted at young Chinese businessmen, promising to satisfy both their professional and personal requirements. The Talisman will be built in Korea at Renault Samsung Motors and then shipped to China, where it will cost around 318 800 RMB (38 652 euros).
The launch of an exclusive model for China shows the importance of this large market to Renault. They currently have a successful business going on there, with 24,100 units sold in 2011. The Koleos SUV is the most successful Renault in China, and after that Scénic, Laguna, Latitude, Fluence and Mégane Coupé-Cabriolet.
Following a 60 percent increase in sale last year in comparison to 2010, Renault started an expansion program that will increase their network of dealerships in China form 80 dealerships in 2011 to 170 in 2014. The new Talisman will accelerate the company’s growth in Chinese market.
