The new generation Lexus ES is revealed in full glory at the New York Auto Show. Now that we can take a good look at the car, we have to say Lexus has done a good job implementing the new spindle grille-based styling details on the ES’s rather old profile. The end result is a sleek and good-looking sedan with a nice touch of sport.

The new car is also improved underneath the body.  The wheelbase of the new ES has been lengthened by 1.8 inches, while the overall length of the vehicle has grown by just one inch, resulting in a more spacious interior. The ES 350 features LED daytime running lights and combination rear lamps reflecting the “L” design motif, as well as rear bumper sports dual exhaust pipe.

For the first time the ES 350 is joined by a second by a second model, the ES 300, which is a hybrid. This one features a distinctive rear design with hidden exhaust and an integrated spoiler. New exterior colors for the 2013 ES include Fire Agate Pearl and Silver Lining Metallic.

As for the engines, the ES350 comes with 3.5-liter V6 engine with Dual VVT-i. The six-speed automatic Electronically Controlled Transmission, while the hybrid ES 300 benefits form  Lexus Hybrid Drive, featuring a 2.5-liter four-cylinder Atkinson cycle engine. The latter offers four modes: Normal, Sport, Eco and EV. In Eco mode it will manage up to 40 mpg.

The 2013 Lexus ES also features a new interior on the line with the rest of Lexus range, featuring plenty of wood and leather and lots of amenities. Available comfort and convenience features include manual door window shades, a power rear shade, and a one-touch power trunk closer. Optional ambient lighting, discretely placed under the wood trim, softly illuminates the surfaces of the instrument panel and all four doors.
