Chevrolet added a new economical diesel version to the Cruze lineup in the British market. Known as the Cruze 1.7 VCDi, this version of the five-door hatchbackis powered by a 1.7 liter, 4-cylinder, DOHC 16v engine developing 130PS and 300 Nm of torque, which isn’t much, but in return in can manage 51.3/72.4/62.7 mpg city/highway/combined, which is pretty good. It also has CO2 emissions of just 117g/km.
Of course, being so economical means you have to sacrifice the performance. So this Cruze does 0 to 60 mph in 9.4 seconds and is out of puff at 124 mph.
The car comes in three trim levels. The entry-level LS, which comes with such features as air conditioning, ESC, remote central locking, follow-me-home headlamps, electrically-adjustable mirrors and electric front windows, is priced at £16,725, while the mid-range LT is £17,825. The range topping LTZ, priced at £18,685, and comes with standard cruise control, 17-inch alloys, auto-dimming mirror, automatic headlights, climate control, rain-sensing wipers and aluminium-effect interior detailing.
The 1.7 liter engine will later be offered in the station wagon Cruze as well.
