JAC Motors S11: The Chinese Sports Car

This car you see here is China’s idea of a proper sports car. Looks alright, doesn’t it? But like every other Chinese car, there’s a couple of things wrong with it. The car was first revealed at 2009 Shanghai Motor Show by a different company. Now JAC Motors have acquired it – or maybe just copied it, as it’s the way they do things in China, and will present it at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show.

The red car above is the one shown in Shanghai, and yellow one below, is what will be displayed in Beijing. As you see nothing but the body color and the wheels have been changed. Gotta love these Chinese fellas!

The design of the JAC S11 is also a bit of a mess. The car is carefully copied from different Ferrari and Audi models, mainly the R8. It’s more clear at the sides with those blades, and round at the back with those distinctive taillights.

The JAC-ASS JAC S11 is also sophisticated, sort of. It’s powered by a hybrid system and features rear wheel drive and a manual transmission. The Chinese say the performance is awesome. They didn’t say how awesome.
