Final pricing and specifications for the UK-bound Toyota Yaris Hybrid have been announced. This will be the most affordable hybrid car in the British market, starting at £14,995. For that you don’t get much in terms of style, or power, or sportiness. But you do get a lot for a hatchback, a decent city runabout that is cheap, economical and easy to live with.
The Yaris Hybrid features the latest Hybrid Synergy Drive system, consisting of a 1.5-litre VVT-i petrol engine, nickel-metal hydride battery pack and CVT (continuously variable transmission). It’s irrelevant to mention how much power it makes, because nobody cares, and it’s not much anyway.
Instead let us tell you about the fuel economy and CO2 emissions. They’re brilliant figures: 80.7mpg and 79g/km (Tspirit models 76mpg and 85 g/km).
Here’s the standard equipments of each trim. Before that take a look at the options list:
Protection Pack (£250) provides mudflaps, Hybrid-branded floor mats, black side mouldings and a boot liner. The Protection+ Pack (£525) provides the same items, plus rear parking sensors and a black rear bumper protector. The Style Pack (£300) adds Hybrid-branded aluminium scuff plates and chrome-finished side sills and tailpipe trim.
