As one of the most popular hatchbakc in the UK Ford Focus achieves a new milestone as the 1,500,000th unit gets sold. Ford obviously had to celebrate this. Lucky for them, the buyer of the milestone car – a five-door Titanium X model – is Essex cricketer Jaik Mickleburgh. What a nice coincidence, eh? A double whammy for Ford!
The Focus has a glorious history in Britain. It was first introduced in 1998, and thanks to the daring design of the firs-gen model it quickly became the top choice for the trendy Brits. It was the king of all family hatchbacks, leading sales leader for 10 consecutive years, until the new Fiesta took over from it in 2008.
The Focus has always been popular not just because of its design, but also because it’s always been much better to drive than its rivals.
Taking the keys to his new Focus Jaik said: “I have had four Fords in the four years since passing my test – three of them were the latest Focus models and one Kuga. For the long drives between home, Ford County Ground and away games, the Ford Focus delivers. One feature I like is heated seats which soothe away aches after playing.”
