As we get closer to Summer 2012 when the new Corvette 427 Convertible will be launched, Chevrolet boosts its marketing efforts. That means we’re going to get more and more of videos like this, publicizing the new boy. And that’s fine by us, because this Corvette 427 is one handsome car, and it’s also the fastest, most capable convertible Corvette ever made. It is quite special as well, as it is one of the very last editions of the current-gen Corvette we will get.

Its heart is the 427-cubic-inch (7.0L) LS7 engine from the Corvette Z06. Rated at 505 horsepower (377 kW) and 470 lb.-ft. of torque (637 Nm), it is the most powerful engine ever installed in a production Corvette convertible – and, like the Z06, the 427 Convertible is only available with a six-speed manual transmission. The car also gets the 60th anniversary package, which adds a subtle body kit, unique colors, those cool stripes, and greater interior trims.
