Fisker gets hit by more bad luck as a Karma catches fire in its owner’s garage, burning the house pretty badly. It has not been confirmed yet if the luxury electric car has been the actual source of fire, but according to Fort Bend County, Texas, chief fire investigator Robert Baker the fire started from the Karma and then spread to the house. The car itself has burned to a crisp, beyond recognition.
The fire apparently started only minutes after the owner arrived at home and parked the Karma in the garage. The car was brand-new with its paper tags on, and it was a post-recall model, which means it didn’t have the battery issues that first Karmas had. And indeed its battery pack was found intact after the fire fighters put it away. The car was not plugged when it caught fire.
The Karma fire destroyed a Mercedes SUV, an Acura NSX and parts of the house, in addition to itself. Damage to the house alone is said to be in excess of $100,000.
If the officials confirm that the Karma is the culprit here, Fisker is going to be in deep troubles, yet again. After all, Karma has a very special customer base. They are all rich, most of them big time celebs like Leo Di Caprio and Justin Bieber. Imagine Justin’s car catching fire… with him in it!
