The new Malibu is one of Chevrolet’s most over-engineered cars, but it retains its winning card which is attractive pricing and a long list of standard features. The mid-size family sedan starts at only $23,150 for the base LS trim, and goes up to $30,925 for the fully-loaded LTZ version. These prices include a $760 destination charge. The 2013 Chevy Malibu is available in eight different trim levels.

And while the base model sees a slight increase over the 2012 model, prices for the uplevel LTZ is lower than before, even though it comes with lots of new features such as Chevrolet MyLink with a seven-inch color-touch LCD screen, color LCD driver information center and dual-zone automatic climate controls.

Powertrains: The LS, LT and LTZ models feature a 197 horsepower (147 kW) 2.5 liter Ecotec engine, while the Malibu Eco comes with a frugal Ecotec 2.4L eAssist which is capable of an EPA-estimated 25 mpg in city driving and 37 mpg on the highway.

As for the safety features, you get 10 standard air bags, as well as an available rearview camera system, Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning. The 2013 Chevrolet Malibu is a 5-star car and also a Top Safety Pick.
