On the face of it this is a Ferrari 458 Italia with some dragon stripes, gold painted wheels, and some red carbon fiber on the dash. And it costs a whopping $870,000! This is the China Limited version of the 458 of which only 20 will be made – the same car that did donuts on the Great Wall. And yes, we do realize import tax and duty might have something to do with it, but still it’s $251,000 more than a normal 458 in China.
Even if you take into account the fact that it has gold dragon embroidery on its headrest, that price is still hard to swallow. That said, people who are after such cars don’t really care about the price. Ferrari could have asked $2million and they would pay it. China’s booming economy has made – and continues to make – lots of new millionaires who are looking for ways to blow up their cash. And this car with its Chinese features and exclusivity, is right up their alley.
Now that the Arabs seem to be growing out of super-expensive, super-vulgar cars, brands like Ferrari are turning to China to sell their special editions and make some extra bucks.
