Rolls Royce ghost is the sportiest car the British luxury maker currently has. It is based on the BMW 7 Series after all. So that’s what they’re bringing to this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed moving motor show as the pace car. It is a new Extended Wheelbase Ghost, mind you, looking splendid in midnight sapphire with a silver satin bonnet. The Ghost draws a fine line between handling of a BMW and majestic ride of a Roller.
And don’t think it’s going to take it 24 hours to finish the course up the Goodwood hill. The Ghost is powered by a the same twin-turbo V12 that powers the BMW 760, and has 563 horsepower. That in combination with an eight speed automatic transmission takes the Ghost from 0 to 62 mph in just five seconds. So it’s up to the job of leading the way for the super cars.
In terms of dynamics, RR Ghost benefits from double-wishbone front suspension and multi-link rear suspension for optimum handling, while four cornered air-suspension system and electronic variable damping ensure those onboard feel like they’re riding a cloud. Add to that a glorious hand-built interior bathed in light courtesy of a panoramic sunroof, and you end up with an unbeatable package.
The EWB Ghost will be joined at Goodwood by a Phantom Saloon Series II in beautiful blue velvet sparkle.
