Some people may be thinking what the hell Skoda – the maker of cheap economy cars – is doing at the Goodwood FoS, the meeting place for the world’s most exotic and fastest supercars. Those people may not be aware that Skoda has a glorious motorsport career in IRC, and they’re bringing their cars and stars to the the Goodwood Forest Rally Stage. That is hugely amusing. Plus, they have the cute new Citigo.
The Citigo city car is going to shown to UK public for the first time at the event, and the launch ad campaign will be launched as well, in ways that Skoda says “need to be seen to be believed.” They will also be giving away four Citigos during the four day festival. Visitors to the various Skoda areas can enter the competition, with the winner announced towards the end of the day’s activities.
As for the rally stage, the Skoda Motorsport Fabia S2000 – fresh from winning the last IRC Manufacturers’ and Drivers’ titles – will be tackling the 1.7 miles forest course with top drivers trying to entertain visitors with their cool moves. Reigning IRC Champion Andreas Mikkelsen, factory drivers Juho Hänninen and Jan Kopecký will be tackling the Goodwood Forest Stage at various points in the weekend, along with rising star Robert Barrable.
