Toyota Australia announced launch of a new aero kit for the Toyota GT86, which as you can clearly see in the pictures, comes with a ginormous rear wing. Question is, did it have to be this big? They say this wing, which features horizontal ‘winglets’ on the uprights, increases downforce. Well, yes it does. But it also makes you look like a complete berk! I’d rather have no downforce at all. Hell, I’d rather crash.

That big handle is only part of the package. The rest of it, consisting of a new front bumper skirt, side skirts, rear bumper skirt, is better. The front has vertical fins for better air flow and dual canards at 12 degree for better handling. The side skirts meanwhile have a rounded leading edge and the rear diffuser helps with downforce and underbody airflow. The kit is exclusive to the 86 GTS models, and costs $3,000 AUD.

If Toyota wants to do something nice to the GT86, they better change those ugly wheels, or give the 200-hp engine a boost in power.
