ZL1 vs GT500 at Track Test: Shelby GT500 vs Camaro ZL1

After measuring the size of these cars’ manhood on dyno, Inside Line takes the 2013 Shelby GT500 and Camaro ZL1 to the test track for a head to head challenge. This test will tell you all you need to know about how these two compare, but it’s all about the facts and figures. We know that’s what matters with muscle cars, but we’d also love to know how these insane machines feel to drive and to live with. The GT500 beats the ZL1 fair and square on the track, but who knows, maybe the ZL1 is more fun!

As a quick reminder, the new GT500 Shelby is powered by a 5.8-liter V8 aluminum-block engine that produces 662 horsepower and 631 lb.-ft. of torque, making it the highest-horsepower engine ever produced in North America. It does 0 to 60 in about 4.0 seconds and reaches 200 mph tops.

On the other hand, the ZL1, powered by a supercharged V-8 engine producing an estimated 550 horsepower (410 kW), ise the fastest Camaro ever offered by Chevrolet. And more than just power, the ZL1 features technologically advanced and highly developed chassis and suspension systems that help it deliver balanced, track-ready handling and braking power.
