By releasing these sketches Bentley revealed its intentions to make a drop-top version of the ultra-luxury Mulsanne sedan. Simply named the Mulsanne Convertible, this road-going yacht will take on Rolls Royce Drophead by offering the world’s most elegant and sophisticated convertible experience with a super-luxe cabin for four people.
Bentley says they’ve been inspired by power boats in designing the interior of the Mulsanne Convertible. It features chic, contemporary design, sumptuous materials, painstaking attention to detail and supreme refinement; exactly the qualities you expect from a coachbuilt Bentley.
The exterior meanwhile is mostly inspired by the British car maker’s early open-top models. The designers looked at all of them, from the race-bred 3-litre of the 1920s to the Park Ward S1 Drophead Coupe of the fifties through the Corniche and, most recently, Azure. It, at least in these sketches, looks more rounded and kinda cooler than the Drophead Roller.
