Lately Jay Leno has been getting too many mainstream cars like Scion FR-S and Abarth 500 to his garage. And while that’s cool, JLG is the place for the hottest, rarest and most interesting machines. Something like this, the Canadian de Macross Epique. Well, it’s built by a Canadian entrepreneur, but the body is inspired by classic European Le Mans racers, and it’s got American power.

The retro-modern looks splendid, but the what’s under the hood is even more fascinating. They started with the supercharged V8 engine out of a Ford GT and took to it ROUSH to upgrade. They managed to squeeze 845 horsepower out of it. That means a 0 to 60 time of 3.1 seconds and a top speed of 235 mph.

Incredible car this, and it’s got a very cool name.
