So Honda unveiled a new facelifted version of the CR-Z hybrid and while we were expecting it to come with a substantial power upgrade over the last model, turns out Honda managed to squeeze not even 20 more PS out of its hybrid powertrain. Well done Honda! The CR-Z problems are not going to fade away with that much extra power.
With all the modifications made to the CR-Z petrol engine and the electric motor, the car has now a combined output of 137 PS and 190 Nm of torque. That will drop the 0 to 100 km/h sprint time fro 9.7 seconds to 9 seconds dead, and gives it a top speed of 124 mph. Average fuel consumption is 56.5 mpg and 116 g/km of CO2.
The 2013 Honda CR-Z does come with a Plus Sport (S+) boost system though, which if the battery is more than 50 percent charge, can be used to get increased acceleration for up to ten seconds. That might become handy for overtaking, because the standard system is so gutless. It might have a dramatic effect on the charge though.
As for the visual changes, which are pobably the most important things about the CR-Z, you get new front bumper design, which frames a revised grille. This is complemented at the rear by a new aerodynamic diffuser design, while striking 17inch alloy wheels fill the wheel arches of the GT model. Two bold new colours, Energetic Yellow and Aurora Violet, are also added to the range.
