Some brochure scans that leaked onto the web earlier today revealed the face of the new 2014 Subaru Forester. This is of course the JDM model, but it’s not likely for the one you get in Europe to be any different. Still looking like a jacked-up estate car, which it probably is, the Forester is a one rugged son of a gun perfect running up and down the country for years.
Compared to the old Forester the new model has grown in size. It’s longer, taller, and wider, all of which means there is more room inside for the passengers. Underneath the body, Subaru Forester has pretty much the same sort of all-wheel-drive system as the Subaru Impreza. In fact it shares quite a lot with the sports saloon, including most of its cabin. That is why it does things rather well.
The old Foresters used to be good at agricultural affairs, but not very nice to live with. This one is. It looks very nice, and it has a great cabin with all the amenities you would want. But it’s still as capable as ever.
The car goes on sale next year as a 2014 model, available in Japan with a choice of two boxer engines, a 150 hp 2.0 liter and a turbo version of the same unit with 276 hp.
