Continuing their quest to give Lexus a sporty new image, Toyota Racing Developments announced launch of a new body kit for the big saloon that is a tad crazier than Lexus’ own F Sport package for the car. The 2013 LS is a pretty aggressive-looking car as it is, but TRD thinks they can do better.

The ingredients of what TRD is proposing here include a chrome spindle grille, front splitter, tall side skirts, and a big rear diffuser with unnecessarily pronounced fins. To round up the package they also install a sport exhaust system, and a set of big sporty 20-inch wheels.The kit is an upgrade for the F Sport package, and is currently only available in Japan.

It is all very nice, of course, but is it possible that Lexus is trying to make the LS something it really doesn’t want to be? I know the old LS was dull and boring, but it was superbly comfortable and quiet. And there are people who appreciate those qualities in a car.

The new body kit and sport exhaust will attract new customers to the brand for sure, but they will also drive many away.
