Another amusing tidbit from Jay Leno’s 2012 Pebble Beach diaries: Jay pops by Bruce Canepa’s corner where he is preparing to take part in a race, and asks him about his unique 1959 Porsche 356, the genesis. It’s not an ordinary 356 though. It’s got a 911 four-cylinder engine. Well, it was a six-cylinder actually, but they’ve sort of chopped it to fit in the 356! Special car this.

In its final spec, that engine is a 2.5 liter with 250 horsepower. What’s more, the car has 911 oil tanks, suspension and what not. So basically, it’s a 911 underneath. It looks glorious though. The 356 is closely related to the Beetle, but it’s a cool classic car.
