Fiesta EcoBoost at 1.0 liter EcoBoost Ford Fiesta Confirmed For America

Hot on the heels of celebrating produciton of the 500,000th EcoBoost engine, Ford announced launch of their award-winning 1.0 liter EcoBoost in America. It will come in the new Ford Fiesta, going on sale next year, and is expected to deliver the best fuel economy of any non-hybrid car sold in the U.S.

This clever little engine might be tiny, but it delivers the same sort of power as a conventional 1.6 liter. In the Fiesta it is tuned to develop 123 horsepower and peak torque of 148 lb.-ft. EPA ratings are yet to be announced, but Ford reckons this version of the Fiesta will outperform some of the hybrid cars on the market.

Pricing too is yet to be confirmed, but seeing as the whole EcoBoost concept is about economy and saving money, Ford promises the car will be quite affordable.

Ford is on its way to become one of the most economical brands in the U.S. market, offering eight vehicles rated at 40 mpg or higher from next year.
