Composite Worx is an Italian manufacturer of high-end carbon fiber sports seats. They recently built a project car based on a Lotus Exige. They fitted it with new body parts and some new seats, but then stood back and looked at it, and thought it lacks something…. a big, meaty engine!

So they gave it one; a 6.2 liter supercharged LS9 V8 from a Corvette ZR1, developing something in the neighborhood of 640 horsepower. That is a colossal amount of power in a big car, let alone the tiny Lotus. So the results should be interesting, to say the least.

Given the weight of the Exige, which is barely a ton, the power to weight ratio in this car is astonishing. Composite Worx reckons it goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 320 km/h.

Called the Extrema, this car also features a carbon fiber aero kit and a pair of Composite Worx’s SP-1 carbon seats.
