Rumors of a small crossover Lexus surface as the Japanese car makers trademarks NX 200t, and NX 300h nameplates. If we decipher those names using Lexus’ current naming policy, we realize the NX should be a SUV smaller than the RX, and that it will get a turbocharged ad a hybrid powertrain.
The NX200t will get a 2.0 liter turbocharged engine which is something new for Lexus, bu the NX 300h will probably be powered by the same system found in the Toyota Camry Hybrid, Toyota Avalon Hybrid and Lexus ES 300h, with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine as the base, and 40 mpg combined.
It makes total sense for Lexus to launch a small crossover vehicle, what with the recent boom in that segment that made almost all car makers to think of a player if they want a piece of this big pie.
All that said, Lexus hasn’t confirmed anything officially yet.
