SEAT IBX Concept 2 at SEAT SUV Confirmed For Production

SEAT has been given the greenlight by parent company Volkswagen to put its first ever SUV into production. The car will be inspired by the IBX concept revealed at 2011 Geneva Motor Show, and will be ready for launch over the next two years.

The new SEAT SUV vehicle will be inspired by the IBX, but it may not look like it, as the firm’s boss James Muir points out. The IBX was a design study with no strings attached. The actual production version will look closer to the rest of SEAT range. The Spanish car maker is trying to have a production concept ready before 2015.

This car will be a full-on SUV, and not a crossover, even though it will be roughly the same size as the VW Tiguan and Nissan Qashqai. The crossover term is apparently reserved for a smaller car SEAT boss is dreaming about based on the Mii.
