Just in time for winter Dodge announced a new all-wheel-driver Sport version of the Charger. Who knew that some day this badass muscle car becomes a benign and efficient AWD V6 sedan. You can stir things up a bit by getting the V8 engine, but still, it doesn’t feel right.
Styling-wise, this model comes with the Sport package that adds Gloss Black painted split-crosshair grille and grille surround, 19-inch polished aluminum wheels with Gloss Black pockets, all-season performance tires, the first application of steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters and sport mode transmission, rear spoiler, sport seats, and premium black or red heated Nappa leather (depending on the trim – Charger AWD is based on Charger SXT and SXT Plus). You also get eats Audio technology with a powerful 12-channel amplifier.
As mentioned, the engine lineup include the Pentastar V6 with 300 horsepower and 18/27 mpg city/highway, and the HEMI V8 with 370 horsepower, 395 lb-ft of torque and a fuel saver feature that can disable four cylinders. The AWD system is also clever, and can seamlessly switch between rear-wheel drive and AWD with no driver intervention. The idea it to engage the front axle only when needed. Most of the time it’s a RWD car to maintain the fun factor.
