British sports car maker Radical, famous for their track cars and also holding the Nurburgring lap record, announced they are working on a new RXC Coupe model. They say it is a road-going car, although what road they have in mind exactly we don’t know. It still looks like a full-on track monster.

RXC stands for Radical Xtreme Coupe which is this car’s full name. It is inspired by Le Mans race cars and features a 3.7-liter V6 Ford engine. That is a large engine for such a small car – even though it is the largest car ever Radical has made. Radicals are usually powered by small engines because they are so incredibly light. This time to compensate for the added weight brought on by the roof and other road-going stuff, they went for a big motor.

The engine makes 380 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque, and seeing it only has to carry 900 kg (under 2000 lbs) of weight, it makes possible a blistering acceleration from 0 to 62 mph in 2.8 seconds.

The RXC is made of carbon fiber body panels and a tubular steel chassis, and features double-wishbone suspension and a seven-speed Quaife transmission with paddle shifters. So yes, despite the fact that it has a tax disc, it is a racing car. You also get six-point harness, six-piston calipers with 330mm discs for the front axle and 310mm discs for rear, and 17-inch tires with barely street-legal tires.

Some of the features added to this Radical to make it liveable on the road include adjustable seats and steering wheel, air condition, and heated front screen. Not much for a £89,500 car.
