Motor Trend’s Carlos Lago grabs the keys to a brand-new Chevrolet Camaro, the SS V8 version, fitted with the 1LE handling package, and heads to the Willow Springs racing circuit to find out if this package is actually worth the extra money you have to pay for it, especially as it doesn’t come with any performance upgrade.
So turns out the 1LE really does work wonders with the Camaro SS. It kills all the understeer, makes the handling more fun, and crucially makes the Camaro faster and more track-friendly. And if you think about it, that is a hugely appealing prospect. You still have the looks and sound of the crude muscle car, but sweet handling and satisfying speed. Clever bit of kit this.
I think the zl1 is a much nicer car.

" ZL1’s supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine, feeling the thrust from the ZL1’s 580 horsepower and 556 lb-ft of torque, they understand that the Camaro ZL1 is an American idol as well as icon. It pays homage to its storied ancestors of the ‘60s and ‘70s with a screaming 3.9-second 0-60 mph dash, a rip-roaring 12.0-second quarter-mile run, and a top speed of 184 mph."
