Honda is proud to present the most fuel-efficient sedan in America in form of the 2014 Accord plug-in hybrid, officially rated by EPA at 115 MPGe. It gives you 13 miles of pure electric drive, and average fuel consumption of 47/46/46 mpg city/hwy/combined.
Pretty impressive figures. The system behind this is a sophisticated two-motor hybrid powertrain with a powerful 124-kilowatt (kW) electric motor that also acts like a continuously variable transmission (e-CVT) mated to a highly fuel-efficient 2.0-liter i-VTEC, Atkinson cycle 4-cylinder engine. It also has a 6.7-kilowatt-hour (kWh) lithium-ion (Li-Ion) battery complete with regenerative brakes that supports electric drive.
It is a plug-in system of course, which means it can also be charged in less than three hours using the supplied 120-volt charger when plugged into a standard 120-volt household electrical outlet. A fast charger will top up the battery in less than one hour.
Honda Accord plug-in hybrid is currently offered at select New York and California Honda dealerships, with prices starting from $39,7802 and a monthly lease price of $4293.
