Following yesterday’s teaser, SEAT reveals the first details and pictures of the new Leon SC ahead of its debut at the Geneva Motor Show. This compact and sporty version of Leon will go on sale later this year as a 2014 model, offering a more fun and agile alternative to the its five-door brother.
The SC is more agile because its wheelbase is 35mm shorter than that of the five-door Leon. However, the little beast inherits its siblings design cues such as distinctive LED headlights, sharp angles, and sport bumpers. The roof on the SC is more sharply raked to make the whole thing look nicer.
Despite being compact and performance-minded, he SC is still a practical hatchback, offering a 380 liter luggage compartment.
Leon SC comes with a range of TSI and TDI engines, including a 1.6 TDI equipped with Start/Stop System and Energy Recovery has an average fuel consumption of just 74.3 mpg, a 2.0 liter TDI with 150 PS, 320 Nm and 68 mpg, a 1.2 liter TSI petrol with 105 PS, and a 1.4 liter TSI with 140 PS and 250 Nm of torque. The petrol units do 57 mpg and 54 mpg respectively. The best engine in the range is a 1.8 TSI, delivering 180 PS and 250 Nm.
Depending on the engine you can get a manual five- or six-speed gearbox, or a compact and lightweight DSG dual-clutch automatic.
