Toyota finally unveiled its new Tundra pickup truck at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show. Designed by the firm’s Calty studio, the new Tundra features a very bold look. It’s bold, but also kinda funny, because the front end is like five-sixth grille with two tiny headlights on either side.

The fenders and wheel wells have been squared-off for a wide and sturdy stance in the new model, while a new rugged new bed and tail gate, with an integrated spoiler and “TUNDRA” logo is added. Front and rear bumpers have changed from one piece to three, for lower replacement costs.

The interior design is heavily revised for a more luxurious and more ergonomic cabin, but most of the dials remain chunky and easily accessible, so you can operate them while wearing gloves. It is, after all, a hard-working truck.

Trim levels for the 2014 Tundra include SR, SR5, Limited and two premium grades: “Platinum” and the all-new “1794 Edition” which is a tribute to the ranch where Tundra’s plant is located. the enw pickup comes with a number of segment-first features, including Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, a standard back-up camera (viewed from the audio display screen), and standard Bluetooth.  Additional standard features include a 3.5-inch multi-information display in the gauge cluster.

The engines have not changed over the previous models, but the performance and riving feel should be enhanced thanks to revised steering systems and new shock absorbers.
