Following the new Commodore VF, Holden now reveals the Commodore SS V show car, a concept hinting at the upcoming high-performance version of the sports sedan. The real purpose of this car, however, is to preview and create some hype for its American cousin, the 2014 Chevrolet SS.

The SS badge in GM’s, and Holden’s, families is given to the high-performance versions of normal models. So while the VF we’ve seen earlier serves as a luxury, executive saloon, this SS model will be the through and through sport version with more power than sense. That is why it wears a brash Fantale orange metallic.

The Commodore SS V also comes with a sportier interior featuring some high-end stuff such as suede, galvano chrome, gloss black and perforated leather with accent stitching. It also gets stitched leather instrument binnacle and a lovely sports profile leather steering wheel. It is a show car, though. So don’t set your heart on these fancy stuff. Chances are the production version will come with a cheap interior, as is the case with all muscle cars in history!

Holden hasn’t released any details on this car powertrain, but we know that the Chevy SS will get the same 6.2 liter LT1 V8 engine as the new Corvette, probably with 50 less horses. The Chevy will be revealed in America this weekend.
