Along with the new EcoSport, Ford also unveiled the Toureno van at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. Coming in three Courier, Connect and Custom models, the new Toureno will hit the European market in mid-2014, offering class-leading space, practicality, fuel economy and safety features.

Ford refers to this car as a ‘multi-activity vehicle’ because it can accomplish a wide variety of tasks. It can be a people carrier with five to nine seats; it can be a family car; or it can just be a van.

The new Tourneo Custom is the most versatile version of the car, available in a choice of eight- or nine-seat configurations. It comes in two lengths – 4.97 meters and 5.34 meters – both featuring sliding rear doors and a wide-opening tailgate. The car benefits from Ford’s latest technology features, including SYNC, Rear View Camera, Speed Limiter, Auto High Beam and Driver Alert, as well as Lane Keeping Alert and SYNC Emergency Assistance.

The Custom comes with a revised version of Ford’s 2.2-liter Duratorq TDCi diesel available in three tunes: 100PS, 125PS and 155PS.

Other Ford Tourneo models:

The Toureno Courier five-seat version is more of a family car with twin rear sliding doors that provide best-in-class access, while 60/40 split folding rear seats offer outstanding space and flexibility. It also comes with lots of stowage features, Ford SYNC with Emergency Assistance, Ford SYNC AppLink, Rear View Camera, Easy Fuel, and Speed Limiter, and a range of safety features. Available engines includes 1.5-litre (75PS) and 1.6-litre (95PS) Duratorq TDCi diesels, and the 100PS 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol.

Then there is the seven-seat Grand Tourneo Connect, which is also packed with features. It is the first in its class to offer Active City Stop, and features Ford SYNC with Emergency Assistance, Rear View Camera, and adaptive cornering fog lamps. The powertrain lineup in Europe includes the 1.6-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel with a choice of 75, 95 and 115PS versions, and the 100PS 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine, plus a version of the 1.6-litre EcoBoost.
