Austrian automotive manufacturer Magna Steyr, who builds parts and fully-assembled cars for different brands, is introducing a new concept car at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. It’s called the View Top and it is based on a Peugeot RCZ which they’ve turned into a cabriolet.

The car features a very interesting roof arrangement. It is basically a hardtop, but it folds like a giant sunroof. Granted, it’s not a full-on Cabrio, but then it doesn’t have any of such concept’s drawbacks.

For one thing, they didn’t have to add any further strengthening beams to the pillars, which means you don’t have the excess weight most cabrios suffer from. What’s more, the roof itself is made from lightweight textile material. So if anything, you lose a couple of stones with the new roof.

Further details, including any plans to introduce a production version of the View Top, will be released at the Geneva show.
