Along with the amazing XKR-S GT, Jaguar also unveiled the new XJR super saloon at the New York Auto Show. This car is powered by the same 550PS and 680Nm 5.0 liter supercharged V8 engine as the GT, and that makes it the fastest XJ in history.
Mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, that engine enables this beast to sprint from zero to 60mph in 4.4 seconds and on to an electronically limited top speed of 174mph. That is on the par, and maybe even better than what most German cars in segment are capable of.
The XJR is distinguished over normal models with a few subtle visual features including a front splitter, special ‘R’ bonnet louvres and quad tailpipes. Inside the cabin, the hints that this is a special model include the semi-aniline leather and veneers in either Carbon Fiber or Piano Black.
Also pat of the R treatment are the new five-spoke, lightweight, 20-inch ‘Farallon’ forged alloy wheels with high performance tires, sport-tuned suspension, electronic rear differential, re-calibrated traction control system, and revised steering and braking.
Available to order now at UK Jaguar dealers from £92,335, the 2014 Jaguar XJR can be had in ten different colors, including Polaris White; Ebony; Ultimate Black; Stratus Grey; Lunar Grey; Rhodium Silver; Cashmere; Caviar; Carnelian Red; and Black Amethyst.
