The Convertible version of the new Corvette Stingray is sitting pretty at its own corner of the Geneva Motor Show, just chilling. The hardtop did all the hard work earlier in the year, convincing people that it is a cracking car. So the Convertible has nothing to prove. It just has to sit there and look good, which it’s doing very well.
Here’s a closer look at both models. See if you can spot the differences between the convertible and the coupe (apart from the roof, obviously):
All models are powered by the LT1 6.2L V-8 which churns out an estimated 450 horsepower (335 kW). As no structural reinforcements are required for the convertible, both models share almost identical power-to-weight ratios.
“We wanted the driving experience of the Corvette to live up to the performance expectations that come with the ‘Stingray’ name,” said Tadge Juechter, Corvette chief engineer. “Because it was designed from the beginning as an open top car, the Corvette Stingray delivers an exhilarating, connected driving experience – no matter what configuration you choose.”
